Robin Dandass
Front Desk
Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do in the gym?
My name is Robin (They/Them). I'm originally from Starkville, Mississippi, and I just joined the front desk at Whetstone!
When not a Whetstone, where might we find you?
I spend a lot of time in the summer peak bagging around the front range. When not out-and-about I can be found lounging in my garden or walking around downtown Fort Collins.
A favorite non-climbing activity?
Trail running! Gaming helps me keep sane on rest days.
What are you most stoked about these days?
I recently moved in with my amazing partner, Abbey.
Have any projects? Climbing or Non-Climbing?
I have a vegetable garden for the first time this year! Also recently got into brewing and have a long list of hopeful summits for this summer.
How did you get involved with the gym?
I used to come in once every other week or so for the systems boards. I ran into Darrell one time, mentioned I worked in the industry and was moving to Fort Collins, and that was that!
Best thing about FoCo / NoCo:
I live downtown and can walk to just about anywhere I'd like, it's a nice balance of busy and quiet, and there's a plethora of good beer and good trails in the area!
What’s a low-key flex you can boast about?
I'm a damn good cook.
Favorite spot to recreate in:
Rocky Mountain National Park has a special place in my heart. I'm there year-round.
How does climbing foster community?
It's a great common point for people to rally around. It also gets folks to face challenges together and generally creates a super supportive atmosphere.
What has climbing taught you?
Climbing has taught me volumes about my relationship with exercise and my body. It also taught me how I can continue to be passionate about something despite setbacks and long periods away.
Climbing in five words... Go!
People, places, challenges, mindfulness, and movement.
Alternatively: Try hard to go up! Lock offs make elbows hurt. I am in this forever.
Favorite climbing style?
Onsighting easy boulders all day long.
